How they make money

General Electric designs, develops, manufactures and services jet engines for commercial airframes and for governments, militaries and commercial airframers, and supplies avionics, power systems and aircraft components. Its aftermarket services business, supported by an installed base of commercial and military engines, accounts for most of its revenue and is sold under arrangements such as long-term service agreements, spare parts agreements and time and material contracts. The company separated GE HealthCare and GE Vernova, and retains legacy operations related to its former financial services business, including run-off insurance operations and a mortgage portfolio in Poland.
