Seventeen years of capital allocation, from the filings.

Langmer shows what the management of a listed company has done with the money, over seventeen years, read from the company's own filings with the SEC. Four sections per company: how it makes money, where the cash went, return on capital, and the management record. Every figure carries its source — the filing, the period and the XBRL tag it came from.

What it is for

Reading seventeen years of annual reports for one company takes days. The figures here are the ones that survive that reading: what came in, what went out, and what it was spent on. They are put next to each other so a pattern over many years is visible at once, which is the part a single annual report cannot show.

What it is not

The site does not rank companies, does not say what a share is worth, and does not tell anyone what to do. There is no price chart. Nothing here is investment advice, and the site takes no view on whether to buy or sell any security. A figure that cannot be established from the filings is shown as missing with the reason, never as zero. The methodology states every definition used, and the verification section states which check stands behind each company.

The figures are taken from the filings as submitted and processed by software. They can contain errors, in the filings themselves or in their processing, and the site is provided as is, without warranty. No advisory relationship arises from using it.

Coverage

The site starts with eighteen large American companies with a long filing history, and expands from there. The roadmap lists what is next. Figures cover seventeen fiscal years, starting with fiscal 2009 or, for companies whose fiscal year ends mid-year, fiscal 2010: the first years XBRL data is reliable.
